Okay… So here goes. I am outspoken about many things, but probably the most important thing I want people to think about is the Constitution of the United States of America. I am not a scholar in any sense of the word, but I have read, re-read and thought about things Constitutional most of my life. I have read hundreds of letters, and other writings by the people that framed and wrote the Constitution and feel like I have a pretty good grasp of what they were trying to accomplish… The current state of affairs ain’t it. We, as a country, seem to have lost our way.
The Federal Government has become an enormous, bloated bureaucracy and it isn’t getting any smaller or less intrusive. People in most parts of the Government seem to think that they “know better” than we do what is best for us. They seem determined to make and enforce laws “for our own good” with little thought as to what might be right. There are daily examples of this; from regulations governing the use of drugs and alcohol, to what color you may paint your own home, to the private ownership of the means of self defense. The collective “ruling class” seem hell-bent on making rules that increase the amount of control they have on you and I.
I consider myself to be a small “L” libertarian. I wholeheartedly believe in live and let live, and feel like you should be able to do pretty much anything you want to do, as long as you aren’t hurting anyone else.
I am no great shakes as an author, but hopefully I can provoke some thought, and maybe, just maybe, get someone to question what people tell them and consider some alternatives.
